Are you a keen administrator with a sharp eye for detail, who is ready for an exciting new opportunity? Have you wondered what goes on behind the scenes at a world-class Museum?

About us
At Science Museum Group (SMG) we are here to inspire futures. Our vision is to share authentic stories in science, technology, engineering, and maths.

Playing a leading role in Manchester, the Science and Industry Museum (SIM) explores how ideas can change the world, from the Industrial Revolution to today. The stories we tell all play an essential role in creating spaces that are open accessible for everyone.

Open for All is one of the Science Museum Group’s five core values. It underpins our working practices and is embedded into everything we do. We commit to ensuring that all people, be it our colleagues or the millions of people who visit our sites or engage with us online, see our museums and sites as places for them.

Placed in the heart of Manchester in Deansgate, our Museum is easy to get to with a range of well-served trains, trams and bus stops.

About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of SIM! Reporting to the Museum Director, we are looking for an Executive Assistant to support the activity of a vibrant office, for a 12-month contract.

No two days are the same when supporting the Museum Director. Whilst you will be managing their diary and emails, you will also organise and support a range of committees and meetings. You will also work closely with Trustees, funders, and politicians, as well as colleagues across the organisation.

The collaboration will be key, as you will support the wider administration of our open and diverse office. This will include some office management and helping other colleagues with general tasks.

This role gives you the chance to get involved in a variety of fascinating projects and departments, which are at the forefront of SIM’s ambitious plans.

About you
Whether you have developed your strong administration skills and diary management by supporting a busy team, office, or an individual – we look forward to hearing from you.

Direct Executive Assistant experience is not essential, and instead, we will be focusing on your excellent organisational skills. With a flexible and proactive approach to work, you can look after a varied workload.

You can manage sensitive information with confidentiality. As an effective communicator, you can build relationships with a range of people. You’re a great team player, with customer service and enjoy supporting others.

What we offer
Joining us as an employee, you will have the opportunity to develop your career in a world-class museum group. We know work/life balance and wellbeing is crucial to our colleagues, so we offer up to 25 days annual leave in addition to bank holidays; support with personal and professional development; employee assistance programme; enhanced contributory pension; and enhanced support for things that happen in life such as parental and adoption leave, sickness, and career breaks.

‘Open for All’ sets out our important aspiration to be a place for everyone. As a national museum group, we have an ability to reach a wide and diverse population of audiences, colleagues and partners through our geography and scale.

We are working hard to understand our organisation better and to foster a culture that recognises and values different backgrounds, mindsets, skills, experience, knowledge and expertise.
