Job Description 

BURN CIC is a membership based not-for-profit organisation which exists to tackle the persistent racial inequalities that impact people of African descent in Greater Manchester through growing the number of Black leaders in senior decision making positions, developing Black businesses to become contract and export ready, and growing trade links with Africa and the Caribbean.

We now have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Learning and Development Manager on a fixed term (until April 2021), full time (37 hours per week) basis, with the opportunity to extend further.

You will be responsible for the training and professional development of our organization’s members and employees, helping them to develop to their full potential as individuals, for career and business success.

In this role, you should be passionate about helping people learn and grow. You will be responsible for designing and delivering a range of quality skills training and personal development workshops, managing & monitoring training associates and stakeholder engagement and retention.

BURN CIC is experiencing rapid growth. We are looking for a seasoned and experienced professional, with significant contract management and tendering experience, who has worked within further education or for a vocational skills training provider . You should be a friendly, self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are mandatory.

    Essential duties and responsibilities

    • Develop and implement a learning strategy and program that are aligned with the organization’s objectives
    • Design and produce training materials, including e-learning courses
    • Manage vendor contracts, agree deliverables including workplans, manage risks and conduct reviews to ensure quality delivery
    • Tender for public sector contracts using national and government portals such as The Chest, In-Tend and Contract Finder.
    • Gain a full understanding of the various business units and their specific training requirements
    • Track budgets, negotiate contracts, build and maintain relationships with clients and other relevant key stakeholders
    • Engage and manage professional training associates, and monitor performance
    • Act as the principal point of contact for anyone with questions about training and development
    • Stay abreast of the latest developments in learning trends, changes in learning theory, and developments in learning technologies

    You must have:-

    • Proven experience as an L&D Manager, Training Manager or similar
    • Current knowledge of effective learning and development methods
    • Able to design and produce relevant training materials including e-learning courses
    • Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices
    • Experience in project management and budgeting
    • Experience in contract tendering and procurement.
    • Ability to effectively present information to clients, public groups, boards of directors, employees, management
    • Professional training or teaching qualifications and/or skills training experience;
    • Ability to effectively present information to clients, public groups, boards of directors, employees, management
    • Computer literacy skills

    This role is a full time position paying the equivalent of £35,000 – £39,000 dependant on experience.
